Just my life
This is a simple blog about my life. It all started on July 2, 1981 when I was born. I was born with something called Goldenhar Syndrome that affects the symmetry of my face. I had many surgeries to get to where I am today. I am currently in school for my Master's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and interested in developmental genetics. I have a wonderful boyfriend and a beautiful 1 year old daughter, Nadia.

Update January 21, 2011
Got the news that Alex's mom had a tracheotomy today. In addition, she has another bacterial colony growing in her lungs. She basically JUST fought of a bacterial colony in her blood (suffered from sepsis infection) for the past month and now she has to fight off another infection? What a life she's having now. She was intubated and extubated 3 consecutive times. The doctors seemed to think she was breathing ok when they extubated her on both accounts, but both times her trachea has failed her. It started to swell as she gasped for air. Her breathing rate was 3 to 4 times the normal rate. Can you imagine not being able to catch your breath? Can you imagine a tube being shoved down your throat and being knocked out for days on end? Not being able to move or talk? Imagine your life at a complete standstill while everyone else that you care about continues theirs.

New to EBlog
I am new to this space. I have no idea what to write except about my life as it currently stands. I'm a mom of one :) She's my entire world. I just started my Master's degree, and I'm nervous since I don't know how I am going to do. I fear I'm making the wrong decision. I am enjoying it though.

You can find a lot of information about me on there. About my likes and dislikes and everything else that you are interested in.
Life is hard right now since my boyfriend's mom is in the CCU. We don't know what is wrong with her, but we know that she has an extremely hard time breathing. She has been intubated a total of 3 TIMES! Such torture. This is also hard on me since I'm being pulled to and from my home every weekend. I'm trying to keep everyone happy while keeping up on my studies. This my seem selfish, but it's a hard task to juggle multiple things. Do I put my boyfriend's needs above my studying and say f**k it and get poor grades? Do I postpone going to graduate school for another year? I've waited so long for this. When I applied everything was okay and no one could have foresaw this hard time. It's hard to do things that make me happy while taking care of other people or things (e.g., my boyfriend, my daughter, and my home). This is the story of anybody's life. You need to learn to juggle the things you want for yourself and the things other people want from you.
